Confidentiality • The counseling office is a safe place • We respect you and your right to privacy and confidentiality • Exceptions: • Self-harm • Harm to others or yourself • Knowledge of others being harmed • The law requires us to report it • Our first priority is to keep our students safe!

  4. Community Assistance/Resources • Counselors will provide you with community resource information.   8. Class Rank vs GPA • What is the point of taking weighted classes if the AZ universities look at unweighted core GPA? • Class rank is weighted. Universities and some scholarships look at both unweighted core course work and weighted class rank.

Dual Enrollment / AP Dual Enrollment • Credit transfers to in-state and some out-of-state colleges. • Check out the Course Equivalency Guide on AZ Transfer to see how credit transfers in-state. http://www.aztransfer.com/ • Dual Enrollment credit does not show up on Higley High School transcripts. You must order your transcript from CGCC. *It’s not too late to sign up for dual enrollment – sign up now!! *CGCC Dual Enrollment $86 per credit hour vs. In-State University $900-$1,000 per credit hour Advanced Placement (AP) • Many colleges and universities offer credit or placement for certain AP scores. You can find a college’s AP credit policy on College Board’s website: https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/creditandplacement/search-credit-policies

College Entrance Exams ACT or SAT - which one should I take? • Some out-of-state colleges/universities require both the SAT and SAT II Subject Tests (Subject tests not required by AZ universities) • Due to the changes to the SAT, there are almost no differences between the two exams. • Free ACT testing - HHS juniors: February 27, 2018 What do I need to do? • Check dates and registration deadlines • ACT given 6 times per year • SAT given 7 times per year • Register online • ACT – www.actstudent.org • SAT – www.collegeboard.org • Review test-taking tips • Take practice exams and/or test prep sessions • Tests can be taken multiple times

Make your Junior Year Count • Last year to improve your GPA & Class Rank – for college entrance • Attendance • After 10th class period absence – placed on audit status (no credit) • Stay active and involved – join a sport, activity, club • Maintain a challenging course load • Talk to adults in the field you want to pursue • HAVE FUN!
