  2. Knowledge Integration in Quitlines: Networks that Improve Cessation (KIQNIC) • ENQ-NAQC is discussing a research programme with U.S’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) • Scott Leischow’s KIQNIC research project has five main objectives: 1. To investigate the structure of the social network of tobacco quitlines in the US and Canada. 2. To investigate the role of social networks on the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based and newly created practices on tobacco quitlines. 3. To identify what moderating role decision-making practices within quitlines may have on the relationship between social networks and adoption of evidence-based practices. 4. To evaluate the impact of information and normative influence on decision-making within quitlines. 5. To describe the task characteristics and structural features of the quitlines that affect decision-making within quitlines.

  3. ENQ/NAQC – Developing a Collaborative Research Programme Purpose: To develop a collaborative research agenda consisting of research topics of interest to both ENQ and NAQC, highlighting the comparative aspects of the two networks including existence of tobacco control policies (price, smoke-free laws, labeling, etc.), level of funding, tobacco use prevalence, quitline services offered. Quitline’s currently involved in discussions: • Italy • Netherlands • Slovak Republic • France • Sweden. • Spain The goals of the calls will be to • identify areas of mutual interest for research • brainstorm a list of potential research topics • prioritize the list of topics and identify 3-5 topics to pursue • identify one funding opportunity that closely matches one of the high-priority topics • submit a research proposal for that topic. Moving forward • NIH FOA (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-07-379.html)            • Scheduled monthly meetings
