  2. Detroit Chapter #045 Highlights • Exceeded our Research Promotion goal! • Awarded our first Joseph B. Olivieri Scholarship of $1,000 to Lou Salge of Lawrence Tech! • Re-established our connection with the Future City Competition and the Science & Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit (SEFMD). We will award two $100 SEFMD scholarships in September and continue thereafter! • Held our first electronic elections! • Established a monthly column in support of the annual theme! • Surveyed membership to evaluate past and plan for the future!

Detroit Chapter #045 Challenges & Solutions • Unexpected loss of Governors/Officers • Increased use of past presidents • Established “Chief Engineer” Governorship in Chapter Bylaws • Competing demands for time • Transferred more administrative duties to contractors • Strongly encouraged committees of 3 or more persons • Incoming (New) Committee Chairs not attending the CRC • Established “Chapter Operations” website content • Held planning session using ASHRAE’s MBO format • History of not meeting RP goal • Highlighted area research projects in newsletter • Invited area researchers to be present at meetings • Donated in Golf Outing sponsors’ names
