  2. SLIDES Assessments Assessments

  3. SLIDES Assessments How often does someone ask for student assessment information? Test scores are used in pupil progression plans, determining factors for student promotion/graduation, and used when determining teacher effectiveness. We will explore the possibilities during this session.

  4. SLIDES Assessments What questions can be answered with student test results? • Are the students performing at grade level? • Are students progressing at an acceptable rate? • How do our students “stack up” against students in other schools in our district or to students in schools from other districts in our state? • How does our district’s overall performance compare to other districts in our state or districts across the country? • How did my students do on their standardized test? • Can you say Race to the Top?

  5. SLIDES Assessments A multitude of Statistical Analysis is performed using student testing data Collect, organize, analyze The value of statistics lies with organizing and simplifying data, to allow for some type of approximation that shows an analysis has been well thought out AND that results are valid. The results must be documented and retrievable. Triangulated data – allows us cross-verify results from multiple sources. The most important function is the comparison of data, or sets of data, to measure accuracy and validity. Longitudinal studies – allows us to watch progress across multiple years – repeat the same analysis for a long period of time.

  6. SLIDES Assessments You can’t get the data out until you get it into a usable format –
