  2. Geographers divide the Caucasus into two: GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE Greater Caucasus – This ranges from the Black to the Caspian sea and has a width of over 160 km in some places. It is divided into several smaller mountain ranges. The highest peaks, which are over 5000 M, are found here, including Schara, Elbrus, and Kazbek. Lesser Caucasus – Found in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, the lesser Caucasus runs parallel to the Greater Caucasus (about 100km south). Its highest point is Aragat in Armenia, which is 4095 M.
