  3. What are nouns? Write a text message about what you know about nouns.

  4. Nouns Objectives: • Reading: To identify common, proper, collective and abstract nouns • Writing: To use different types of nouns effectively • Create a front cover for a magazine and write an article.

  5. What are nouns? Common nouns are just the names of things. boat, man, woman, sea It could also be the name of something like a person, a place, a day or a month.   7. What are nouns? It is so easy to forget that these things are still nouns. Not all nouns are things you can touch. love anger • There are four kinds of nouns: • a type of thing, • a single thing, • a group of things, • a thing you can’t touch. sleep These are called abstract nouns

  8. Copy and complete the chart with at least six more rows.

  9. Thereare 16 nouns in this story, in pairs list them. One windy day, a bird flew out from its nest on the cliffs near Dover. Some people had left the remains of a picnic on the beach. The bird swooped and picked up bits of sausage, crisps and cakes, and flew off with a pie for dinner.

  10. Mistakes to avoid ...... Common nouns are names of things: boy, car, house. Proper nouns are names of people, animals, places, dates, brand names and titles: Mr David Cameron, London, August, Pepsi, The Bible, Dr Who. All sentences begin with a capital letter and end with either a full stop, question or exclamation mark. Think about them when you write, and check your work to make sure they’re all there. Miss Marks The Examiner Assessment criteria: Punctuate sentences correctly so that the meaning is clear (Ws/L1.3) Spell correctly words used most often in work, studies and daily life, including familiar technical words.
