  6. Homework/Grading Scale/ Sharing Answers/Expectations • The grading scale that will be used for this course is the standard Carmel Clay school district grading scale. Correct spelling/grammar is expected on all formal writing assignments. This can be found in your child’s planner. • Grading will be a 90/10: similar to math in which assessments make up 90% of the grade and homework, etc. will make up 10% of the grade. • Classwork/Homework will play an important role in this class. In order to do well in this class, your child must turn in workbecause the classwork and homework will provide the base for the upcoming assessment. • Sharing answers– All work is to be done on an individual basis unless otherwise specified. If the students are sharing answers, ALL parties involved will receive a ZERO.

  7. Helpful Hints • Discuss the importance of recording assignments and upcoming projects in the Wildcat Planner. • Review Planner daily. • Oversee your child’s organizational skills so that he/she learns to be responsible for: --bringing home the proper book and assignments every night. --placing completed assignments in the correct folder. --turning in assignments on time. --organizing locker.

  8. AFTER SCHOOL STUDY HALL Monday, August 26 After School Study Hall begins… • After School Study Hall runs Monday through Thursdays except when there is a school holiday the next day. • Students report to the media center and are divided into 2 groups.   Desk workers go to a classroom and computer workers go to a lab. • Three staff members monitor.  They assist and will help as needed.  It is not tutoring. • The areas are meant to be quiet and controlled.  No group work unless a teacher writes a pass for a short term project. • There is no advance sign up required; there is no charge. • All students need to be picked up by car or take the late bus after 4PM. • Discipline logs are kept.  Three strikes and you are out--timeline to be determined by the administration.

  9. The Million Dollar Question is…. How do I know if my child is on task? Two ways: • Homework website: http://www1.ccs.k12.in.us/teachers/akuhl • My CCS: https://myccs.ccs.k12.in.us/login
