Jan. 1 - Statutes take effect Jan. 5 - Legislature reconvenes Jan. 10 - Budget Bill must be submitted by Governor Jan. 30 - Last day to submit bill requests to Office of Legislative Counsel Feb. 27 - Last day for bills to be introduced Apr. 2 - Spring Recess begins upon adjournment April 3 to April 12 Spring Recess Apr. 13 - Legislature reconvenes from Spring Recess January to April

May 1 - Last day for policy committees to hear and report fiscal bills for referral to fiscal committees May 15 - Last day for policy committees to hear and report to the floor non fiscal bills May 22 - Last day for policy committees to meet prior to June 8 May 29 - Last day for fiscal committees to hear and report bills to the floor. Last day for fiscal committees to meet prior to June 8. Jun. 1-5   Floor session only. No committee may meet for any purpose Jun. 5 - Last day to pass bills out of house of origin Jun. 8 - Committee meetings may resume Jun. 15 - Budget Bill must be passed by midnight July 10 - Last day for policy committees to hear and report bills July 17 - Summer Recess begins upon adjournment, provided Budget Bill has been passed May -July

July 18 to August 16 Summer Recess Aug. 17 - Legislature reconvenes from Summer Recess Aug. 28 - Last day for fiscal committees to meet and report bills to the Floor Aug. 31 - Sept. 11    Floor session only. No committee may meet for any purpose. Sept. 4 - Last day to amend on the Floor Sept. 11 - Last day for any bill to be passed . Interim Recess begins on adjournment. Oct. 11 - Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills passed by the Legislature before Sept. 1 and in the Governor's possession on or after Sept. 1 August -October

  5. November- December • December 1 2010-2011 Regular Session of the California State Legislature begins by statute; actual first session not yet set
