Why this session? • History between Willamette and National Fraternities • Commitment on the part of the Willamette • Student Input & Involvement • Budgeting • Master Planning • My limitations as the presenter – I was the Area Coordinator for the Fraternities during ¾ of this process, and the Coordinator of Purchasing the other ¼. I do not work in Facilities or Project Management

Herbert Smith – 1927 DePauw University alum • President, Willamette University President from 1942-1969 • Secretary General, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, 1935-1946 • President, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, 1946-1951 • Fraternities vs. Residence Halls • Starting in 1946 – Five national fraternities have been housed on Willamette’s campus • Beta Theta Pi • Delta Tau Delta • Phi Delta Theta • Sigma Alpha Epsilon • Sigma Chi
