  1. RAW reprocessing and MC over the Christmas break ALICE TF December 17, 2009

  2. Re-processing (and processing) status 1 Dec 7 Aug Collisions, 10TB Cosmics, 85% reprocessed No further processing requested ~130TB

  3. Collision data • Runs 104321 onward – (single) AliRoot v4-17-Rev-20 revision • Pass 1 with ‘floating OCDB – more on that later • ‘Good runs’ – this is rather immaterial – all runs are marked as ‘good’ • No backlog, but two detectors (HMPID, EMCAL) and one system (HLT) excluded

  4. Collision data (2) • Look only at ‘many detectors’ runs • 365GB RAW, 215 GB output from reconstruction (x4 replica = 860 GB) • All RecPoint written out • Very good reconstruction efficiency • The ESDs are ready few hours after data taking (all automatic process)

  5. Reprocessing of RAW • ~40 physics runs to be replicated to T1s • Exclusively 2 replicas (2x 365GB) • Pass 2 processing will be done exclusively at T1s (as per computing model) • Same level of replicas for ESDs and other objects • Approximately 1 day to reprocess everything

  6. OCDB • Very flexible update policy – all requested retrofits are done on the spot • Quick turnaround, but unstable situation • Essentially every detector has requested a manual update of 1 or more objects • This is a ‘shuttle by hand’, which cannot continue for very long • Clearly some of the detector online calibration strategies need substantial updates

  7. MC production • Mostly ‘First physics’ • 11 cycles, 100-200K events each • Fast turnaround – requested in the evening, ready by morning • Reflecting the running conditions • Few larger cycles are in preparation • Muon Coctail (LHC09a18) 100 Mio events still to be completed • Will run over Christmas, if nothing else is requested by Physics Coordination

  8. Grid updates • SL5 migration • Essentially ready (after a long and painful push) • Many thanks to Patricia and the sites • From January, SL4 will no longer be suppported • CREAM CE • Not yet there, the uptake is difficult at best • Not a showstopper, however it will increase stability and must be installed
