  6. Topic Introduction • Community Service in Detroit • To Clean Up Detroit • Organizations to Volunteer with: • Blight Busters • Greening of Detroit • Habitat for Humanity • What do the Organizations do? • Plant Trees • Tear Down/Fix Worn Houses

  7. Problem to Solve • Increase Number of Volunteers to Decrease Blight • Determine Cause for Low Number of Volunteers • Lack of Awareness • People do not know organizations are out there • People do not understand the importance of volunteer work

Objectives of Project • Carry-Out the Solutions • Write Proposal • Put it in Action • Find a Reasonable Solution – Increase Awareness • Create Social Networking Accounts • Increase number of opportunities people can be involved in • Increase convenience for volunteers by creating online registrations forms

  9. Importance of Project • Short Term: • Clean-up Detroit • Volunteering brings the community closer together • Long Term: • Improves Detroit’s image • Allows people to move back and increase business

  10. Contributions • Each member will take one of the 4 main points to research. • They will create all the slides required for their main point. • They will write all documents required for their main point.

  11. Team Roles • Each team member will also assume one of the 3 team roles. • These roles will rotate with each assignment so each member gets experience with the different roles.

  12. Team Roles Cont. • Team Leader • Put assignments together • Make sure everyone is on track • Make sure everyone provides input • Note Keeper • Take notes during meetings • Type the notes afterwards • Send notes to the group

  13. Team Roles Cont. • Schedule Keepers • Update any changes to schedule on wiki. • Send out reminder emails • Keep track of late work • Keep track of who is assigned which parts. • Two members will assume this role.

  15. Team Goals • Receive an A in the class • Meet deadlines • Present more clearlyand confidently

  16. Deadlines • Individuals must turn in the work a week prior to the due date. • The group members will edit the assigned work the class period before the due date. • Group individuals must turn in whatever he/she has at the deadline.

  17. Missed deadlines • If he/she does not turn in the work that is assigned, the group will meet the day before the editing day to make up for it. • After missing 3 deadlines, the group will report to Professor Kimberly Lacey to be graded separately.
