Born in New York on May 8, 1919 He studied social psychology He taught at different universities He was recognized in 1959 for his theory on social behavior He was honored by Fortune Magazine for being one of the youngest for his research on people He was well known for his theory of cognitive dissonance In 1959, he was elected to the American Academy of Science In 1973, he was elected to the National Academy of Science He was a cognitivist He died in February 11, 1989 LEON FESTINGER

According to his theory, people will feel stressed or uncomfortable when their beliefs do not correspond with their behavior According to his cognitive dissonance, people have a drive to hold theirattitudes together to peaceful and avoid negativity For example, if a person is put to do something they do not want to, their attitude is not that great FESTINGER’S THEORY

  5. His theory impacts teaching because it is related to problem solving and decision making In adult education majority of the work has to be done by the student Students gain knowledge by comparing themselves to other students HOW FESTINGER’S THEORY IMPACT TEACHING

Festinger’s theory applies to adult education because students compare themselves to other students It is also applied because students sometimes do not like the homework that a teacher provides them Students end up procrastinating to the last minute because they have the attitude of I don’t want to do it APPLICABILITY OF FESTINGER’S THEORY

Born in Russia on September 26, 1849 Studied pharmacology and physiology He became a teacher in St. Petersburg He was also involved in medical research He was interested in the behavior of both humans and animals He was a behaviorist He was interested in the human and animals reflexes He studied classical condition, a theory on how behavior is learned He received a Nobel Prize for playing a major part in science He died in 1936 in Russia IVAN PAVLOV

  9. His theory is based on the way we act His theory was also based on observation and not on thought For example, when you blow into somebody’s eye they blink PAVLOV’S THEORY

This theory can be used through conditioning emotion Teachers can help get the students attention by performing teaching-learning effective It develops positive attitudes When using the theory, it helps the student to have a different outlook on the material provided It helps to show affection not only at home but in the classroom as well HOW PAVLOV’S THEORY IMPACT TEACHING

  11. Pavlov’s theory applies to adult education because it helps the students to keep a positive attitude It also applies through group discussions His theory applies through the teacher asking a question and the students answering the question APPLICABILITY OF PAVLOV’S THEORY
