  1. Who we are and what we do Health & Disability National Services improves the well-being and health of New Zealanders by planning for and buying health and disability services. We manage the relationships and contracts with the organisations who deliver them. We fund services in: Disability support Personal health (such as Emergency Ambulance Services, Well Child Services, HealthLine and the Family Planning Association) Population screening Public health Workforce training

Disability Services Outcome we try to achieve: Disability services helps to ensure that disabled people are valued, included and respected, have some influence and control, are connected to their communities and have disability support services that are useful. The population group we are responsible for supporting: In the main Disability services provide support to people with Intellectual, Physical or Sensory disabilities.

  3. Disability Services Nationally • We spend approximately $850m per annum • We have approximately 1500 contracts with service providers • We support approximately 35,000 people

  4. Disability Services Otago / Southland • We spend approximately $60m per annum • We have approximately 110 contracts with service providers • We support approximately 3000 people

  5. Disability Services Otago / Southland • The supports Disability Services fund include: • Information services • Needs Assessment and Service Coordination • Residential Services • Supported Living • Home Based Supports • Respite and Carer Support

  6. Disability Services Otago / Southland • The supports Disability Services fund include : • Services under the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care Act • Behaviour Support • Child Development • Habilitation and Rehabilitation • Individualised Funding

  7. Disability Services Otago / Southland • The supports Disability Services fund include : • Day Services • Environmental Support Services • Other such as contact lens benefits, cochlear implants, services for people with chronic health needs otherwise not directly eligible for Disability services or Personal Health services.
