  3. TARBEYAH AND TAZKEYA NAFS • Two aspects 1-Cleansing of hearts, actions and morals. 2-Enhancement of virtues and excelling in moral values.

  4. OBJECTIVES • CONTINUOUS EFFORT TO ACQUIRE ISLAMIC KNOWLEDGE • KNOWLEDGE OF THIS LAND, ITS PEOPLE, PROBLEMS AND ISLAMIC SOLUTIONS • BECOME MODEL OF ISLAM IN THEIR WORDS AND DEEDS. • DEVELOP SKILLS FOR BEING EFFECTIVE DAIYAS.

  5. GOALS • Islamic knowledge • Love of Allah and Rasool (S) • High moral character and loving personality. • Insight of Islamic Jama’ah • Sound opinion/Critical thinking. • Commitment and sacrifice • Excellence in organizational skills.

  6. SIGNIFICANCE IN THE TEACHINGS OF QURAN • SURA ALE IMRAN:164 (It is He who has sent the unlettered messenger from amongst themselves to recite to them His verses, to sanctify them and to instruct them in scripture and wisdom and they were before that in manifest error.

  7. TEACHINGS OF QURAN • SURA SHAMS 91: 7-10 (Truly he succeeds that purifies it and he fails who corrupts it. • SURA ALA 87:14 (Truly he succeeds who purifies it.

  8. PREREQUISITES FOR TAZKEYA • Sincere intention and determination. Surah Taha 20:115(Before We gave a command to Adam but he forgot and We did not find determination in him) • Knowledge. • Practical struggle- Surah Najm53:39 Surah Isra 17:19 • Clear goal- Pleasure of Allah and success in the hereafter. • Excellence in performing deeds. Hadith Jibril (Muslim) • Tazkia- part of life. • Strong relation with Allah, seeking His Help. • Self Muhasibah

  9. Methodology • Cleansing of the heart. Shuara 26:88-89(That day no money or sons will benefit except the one who came with righteous heart) , Baqarah 2:10, Hajj 22:46(Truly it is not the eyes which turn blind, it is the heart in chest which turns blind) Hadith- Bukhari, Ahmad • Zikr and Ibadah. • Infaq in the way of Allah. • Brotherhood and company of righteous. • Dawah Ilallah. • Be part of Jamaah and practice Muhasibah.

  10. IMPEDIMENTS IN THE WAY OF TAZKEYAH • Ghaflah ( Neglect and forgetfulness) • Submission to one’s Nafs or passions. • Satan’s attacks and evil designs. • Evil environment and company. • Kibr (Arrogance) • Love of this material world. • Despair

Three levels of work.A-INDIVIDUAL • Physical fitness • High moral standards: truthful, humble, decisive, keep promises, courageous, serious, away from evil company or entertainment. • Education and knowledge. .Own library .Master his profession .Correct recitation of Quran .Study Seerah of Prophet and early Muslims .Basics of Islamic Sharia.

  12. Individual Level • Ability to earn a living. He should have a business or a job and perform it the best. Stay away from forbidden ways (gambling or interest). Save some money, avoid excess spending and promote Muslim businesses. • Correct faith. .Always remember Allah and Akhirah. .Keep wudu at all times. .Observe Salaat, Saum, perform Hajj. .Always do Tauba, stay away from Zulm and Shubha. .Spend time only in what is good for Akhirah. .Restrain himself, his gaze, emotions and desires.

  13. Individual Level • Correct Ibadah: Bukhari reports three Sahaba came to Prophet’s houses and asked his wives about His worship. • Self Discipline. He should exert complete control over himself. A disciplined self enables one to face hardships.

  14. Individual level. • Helping others. Daiyah should be like a candle which burns to give light to others. .Should always make proper judgment, whether angry or pleased. .Active , trained and pleased in community service. .Forgiving and merciful. No backbiting or prying in other’s affairs. .Give people’s their rights before they ask.

  15. B-Muslim Family • Family is nucleus of the society. • Selection of righteous spouse. • Observe Islamic rights and duties. • Both parents to raise righteous children.

  16. C-ISLAMIC JAMAAH • Dawah Ilallah. • Organize those who accept the call into the Jamaah. • Tarbeyah and Tazkia of those who join the Jama’ah. (Individual syllabus, NN and workers meetings, night vigils, RTP, LTP) • Social service.

  17. ACTION PLAN • Syllabus of study. This syllabus is in three parts. • Selected parts of Quran • Selected Hadith • Islamic Literature (On concepts of Islamic movement)

  18. Neighbor net Meetings • NN is basic Taleem, Dawah and Akhu'wah unit. • Meetings could be weekly or less often. • A quarterly city or regional NN meeting be held to share experiences. • A syllabus and guideline for NN is available.

  19. Workers Meeting • Monthly or bimonthly. • This should be our Tarbeyah vehicle. • Program may include: Short study of selected ayahs with memorization, study of a Hadith with memorization, review of a book, review of major projects, suggestions and opinions.

  20. Regional Level • At least one Regional Tarbeyah camp in each region. • These will be weekend long. • Program will consist of : .Ulumul Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Aqeedah, Islamic Jamaah and movement, Islam in America, Tazkia. • Group visits

  21. Central Level • NN Coordinator’s Program. • Program for advanced study.

  22. Dua • Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, and remit us from our evil deeds, and cause us to die in a state of righteousness. Our Lord! Grant us what you promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Judgment, for You never break Your promise.” (Ali-‘Imran, 193-94)
