  3. Gerry Bertier • Born on August 20,1957 • Spent a happy childhood in Virginia • Dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal. • He played on the Titan’s football team. • Was the best but then got in car accident.

  4. Gerry Bertier • Spent rest of life in wheelchair. • Went in Olympics. • Won a gold medal like he dreamed of. • Gerry died March 20, 1981.

  5. Chris Waddell • Chris born September 28, 1968. • When he was 20 he got in a BAD accident. • Chris wanted to climb mountains, too. • He used a bike that you use your hands to pedal.

  6. Chris Waddell • He climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. • When he climbed the mountain he reminded people that anyone can do grand things.

  7. Why They Are Important • Chris Waddell and Gerry Bertier are important because they taught us that just because you are in a wheelchair doesn’t mean you can’t do things. People everywhere can do amazing things even if you don’t think you can. • I hope you learned a lot from our presentation of Gerry Bertier and Chris Waddell. • Thank You.
