  5. Assist with chapter management activities • Membership recruitment • Budgeting • Parliamentary procedure • Assist with public relations and community service activities

  6. Collaborate with others in the school and community • Participate in regional, state and national events and meetings • Serve in local, state, and national offices

TALK TO YOUR FAMILY, ADVISER, AND ADMINISTRATOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR YOUR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION ARE AS FOLLOWS: • Need to give financial support for expenses incurred by the adviser in the performance of specified duties • There must be release time for the adviser during the school year • The use of school facilities or vehicles for FCCLA activities

  8. INFORM YOUR SCHOOL BOARD 1. SAY WHO WE ARE A STUDENT-LED ORGANIZATION THAT FOCUSES ON THE FAMILY AS THE BASIC UNIT OF SOCIETY.

Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through-- character development creative and critical thinking interpersonal communication practical knowledge and vocational preparation www.fcclainc.org

Key Messages Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences Education. • Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national career and technical student organization. • The organization builds strong leaders in families, careers, and communities. FCCLA programs emphasize leadership development and personal growth.

FCCLA is the only in-school student organization with the family as its central focus. • The organization offers students opportunities at local, regional, state, and national levels. • Chapters function as part of the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum and operate within the school system. • Members use a planning process to create and carry out individual and chapter projects. • FCCLA is supported primarily through membership dues.

  12. 2. EXPLAIN TO THEM THE POSSIBLE BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN OFFICER • LEARN BETTER PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS • GETTING THE CHANCE TO REPRESENT NOT ONLY YOUR SCHOOL BUT ALSO THE WHOLE STATE • GETTING TO MEET STATE OFFICIALS • ALSO BECOMING A LEADER AND NOT A FOLLOWER

  13. 3. GIVE THEM YOUR REASONS FOR WANTING TO BE AN OFFICER PLEASE THINK HARD ABOUT THIS, IF YOU SAY TO YOURSELF, “Okay…. these reasons aren’t that good”, then develop better reasons or seriously reconsider your reasons for running!!!!

  14. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Being an officer isn’t just about the responsibilities of your school, but the largest part falls on you.

Meet all requirements mentioned on the state officer candidate form Complete the nomination form Also complete the information form The last form to be filled out is the officer permission/ recommendation form Speeches to be given at the first general session and regional meetings at State Leadership Conference FORMS AND SPEECHES

  16. At State Leadership Conference it is also required of you to answer questions from the voting delegates from your region.

  17. MEETINGS • At closing session at SLC there is a brief officer meeting • There is officer orientation, work sessions, and officer trainings • Plan and attend your regional and state meetings • Attend a National Cluster Meeting • Attend the National Leadership Meeting
