He is the Founder and CEO of The Language Conservancy (TLC), established in 2005. Through his company, Mr. Meya produces dictionaries, textbooks, books, documentaries and other resources to preserve and teach Indigenous languages to all generations. As Founder & CEO of The Language Conservancy (TLC), he has grown a network of over a dozen related organizations that work to support endangered languages and build linguistic capacity & infrastructure.
Scientific Achievement Wilhelm K. Meya has received many acknowledgements and awards for societal and scientific achievement for his work in language preservation. In 2005, he established The Language Conservancy (TLC) and currently serves as the non-profit’s CEO. Wil is a graduate of Indiana University with his Master of Science in Anthropology.
Founder & CEO Wilhelm Meya was born in Vienna, Austria and spent much of his childhood in Connecticut. He is the Founder & CEO of The C (TLC) which, since 2005, has grown to serve as an official consultive entity for the United Nations.
University of Vienna Wilhelm Meya is known globally for raising awareness of language extinction which has become a worldwide crisis. Mr. Meya studied economics at Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania and the University of Vienna before discovering his interest in Indigenous issues while traveling in Central America.
Indigenous Advocacy and Awareness Wilhelm K. Meya traveled Central America during his college years and discovered a passion for Indigenous advocacy and awareness. He graduated Indiana University with an M.S. of Anthropology and established The Language Conservancy (TLC) in 2005. Mr. Meya forged collaborations and alliances between his organization and educational institutions to meet his end goals—preserving and protecting endangered Indigenous languages.
