New Curriculum 2014 • A broad and balanced curriculum that raises expectationsNationally • Spiritual, Moral, Cultural, Mental and Physical Development • PE – Funding to develop from the DFE • Cooking – KS2 – Healthy Eating – growing food • ICT – To be called Computing – includes programming • Assessment and reporting to parents without levels – Instead of L4 children will be ‘Secondary Ready’ Anna Bosher

  3. St. James’ and the New Curriculum • We are already working at higher than National Expectations • End of KS2 4 terms ahead • Academy Freedoms • English is already covered • Focus upon Maths, Science, ICT and PE to begin with Anna Bosher

  4. St. James’ Priorities • Implications for the SATs 2016 • Y3 and Y4 begin the New Curriculum changes in January 2014 – gentle transition • Feeding back to parents – transition from levels • Work with local schools to find a way forward with assessment and moderating without levels Anna Bosher

  5. Measuring success • Expected • Emerging • Exceeding • Schools use their own criteria • Keep what works adopt what will enhance Anna Bosher

Special Educational Needs • Statements no longer issued • SA and SA+ removed and become Emerging learners* • Pupil Resource Agreement – Old statement level • Pupil Support Agreement – Old SA SA+ • Shared support in class • Reduced funding over all – Children’s needs come first * Please note that those pupils who have a diagnosis will be supported in line with the diagnosis. The term Emerging will apply to academic progress only and children with learning needs. Anna Bosher
