  3. Tell me about you… • Tell me about the presentations you work with? • Create new presentations with images from a digital camera • “Fix” an existing presentation • It’s too large to email… HELP!! • It’s taking HOURS to open…HELP!!

  5. How do YOU add images? • What image type are you? • Copy/Paste • bad in the past, not so bad anymore • Insert/Image • just about perfect! • “Squoooosher” • You’re just the one I’m looking for, we’ll take care of your little problem!

  8. What is a Hyperlink? • A Hyperlink is a connection from a slide to another slide, a custom show, a Web page, or a file. • Hyperlink can be text, picture, graph, shape, or WordArt.

  10. Merging PPT Presentations • Insert entire PPT presentations, or select individual slides • Insert>Slides from Files • Select “Keep source formatting” to keep the design template of the slides you are importing

  11. Did You Know… • you can add personal notes to your presentation? • Just add your own notes while creating your presentation. Your notes can say anything, but they won’t be included in the finished product. • if there are certain slides you don’t want to include in your presentation, you can temporarily hide them? • This trick is handy when using one presentation for more than one audience.

  12. Did You Know… • you can print your slides as handouts for your audience? • This feature is great when using slides as an outline for a lecture. The audience can make their own notes as they follow along. • you can add a summary slide or agenda to your presentation? • This feature takes the headings from each slides (or select just the few you want) and creates a summary slide. Move it to the beginning of your presentation and use as an agenda or overview.

  15. Step 2.   Making the connections:NOTE: Make all connections BEFORE turning on laptop or projector Connect the Projector VGA cable end to the port marked computer in on the projector

  17. Step 3.   Power up Sequence: • First, turn the laptop on and let it “boot up” to your desktop • Then turn on the projector

Step 3.   Power up Sequence: With the laptop connected and powered up, you will then press Fn and F8 key combo to cycle through a connection mode. • Press once to have the projector show what is on your laptop screen. • Pressing both keys again will black out your laptop, but the image will still appear on the projector screen. • Finally pressing both a third time will remove the image from the projector screen and display the image on the laptop.

  19. Step 4.   Final Adjustments: Keystone Adjustment – If the projector is not directly in line with projection surface, the image may appear trapezoidal.

  20. Step 4.   Final Adjustments: Sync + and Sync – Adjusts the vertical image displayed. Can make the display larger or smaller. This is useful if the projector is projecting at an angle up or down. Tracking + and Tracking – Adjusts the horizontal image displayed. Can make the display larger or smaller. This is useful if the projector is not placed directly in front of the projection surface. Focus:Adjust focus by sliding focus lever on lens.

  21. Step 5.   When you’ve finished: • Don't immediately disconnect the projector from its power supply. • Switch off using the projectors on/standby button. • Let the fan run until it stops so the projector can cool down properly.

  22. Running Your PowerPoint Show • Short-Cut Keys (F1 key during slideshow) • Short-cuts are an quick and simple way to jump around in your show. • You can change the screen color, go to the next/previous slide, and even jump to a particular slide out of order. • See Handout for examples.

  23. Final Project Ideas • Looking for a final project related to PowerPoint? Consider: • Create a really good PowerPoint presentation you can use at work. Make sure it has photos, and uses some of the things you’ve learned, such as a master edited template. • Take a previous presentation and improve it, either by fixing the size of the images, reviewing the design and layout, or jazzing it up a bit.
