  1. Teamcenter UpdateMay 2012 • Agenda • What is Teamcenter • Benefits • Status • Planned Next Steps

  2. What is Teamcenter? • What is Teamcenter? • Teamcenter is a commercial Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software owned by Siemens • PLM is the process of managing the entire lifecycle of a product from its conception, through design and manufacture, to service and disposal • Teamcenter is used by • more than 6,400 customers across about 9,900 operations with 5 million licensed seats. • DESY for the XFEL project (TC Enterprise), and also at Jefferson Lab (TC Unified) • Who will Teamcenter affect? • Scientists, engineers, designers, technicians, machinists, QC, ES&H & procurement personnel • Mechanical, electrical, and civil disciplines • Goals • Common access point for engineering related documents – one Engineering Database Management System (EDMS) • Easily find engineering information, engineering reports, analysis on previous designs… • Enhance Collaboration between internal groups and external Labs, Universities, others… • Lab wide workflow processes for reviews and signoffs

  3. Benefits • Facilitates Collaboration • Can handle SolidWorks files • Project X – PXIE • LBNL • ANL • JLAB • IIFC • Existing India CAD Models • Benefit • Allows us to collaborate with other labs on common projects

  4. Benefits • Visualization • New Functionality at Lab • View, Measure and Markup • Benefit • Allow for easier project collaboration and better understanding of issues

  5. Benefits • Provides High Quality Imaging • This helps increase communication and understanding prior to manufacturing • Examples • 650 Mhz Cavity • IB3 Proposed improvements Only Computer Images

  6. Benefits • Reuse • Benefit - Having a repository of “Common Items” (flanges, bolts, etc.) allows significant amount of use. Flanges Cap Screws Structural Components

  7. Status • Current Status • Phase 1 – • Went live January 20, 2012 • Currently ~4 users per day (~20 users per day at peak) logged in to production • More than 17,000 Common Items created • More than 650 Models/Drawings created to date • Crystal Collimator completion April 2012

  8. Status • DesignItems • Current Status • Total Items created in Production > 650 since January 20th • First Pilot Project Examples

  9. Status • Phase 1 • New Projects using NX and Teamcenter • Technical Division • SC Magnets - 11 Tesla Magnet • SRF - Research Test Cryostat • LBNE – Trim Dipole Assembly • Particle Physics Division • SCDMS - AdsorberMounting Vessel • LBNE – LArk 6 Kton Detector • Beamline - LBAR Timing Detector • Accelerator Division • Crystal Collimator • PXIE – Facilities • Phase 2 • Portfolio Management Team (PMT) • Approved implementation of Teamcenter – Phase 2 • Detailed planning in progress

  10. Next Steps • Short Term • Fix Production “Work Arounds” identified by Pilot Team • Migration of Mechanical Ideas CAD Data to NX and Teamcenter • 2012 / 2013 • On-Boarding for LBNE, Mu2E and Project X • Create Remaining Item Types (for Engineering Manual Documents) • FESS Workflow • AutoCAD Integration for FESS and Electrical • Electronic Sign-off • Requirements Management • Change Management • ECAD Integration • Migrate Data (Electrical, FESS, others) • Questions and Comments • Thank you
