  1. 2.1 Functions and Their Graphs

  2. Common Core Standards AREI-11 - Represent and solve equations and inequalities graphically

  3. 2.1 Functions and Their Graphs Relation – is a mapping, or pairing, of input values with output values Domain – set of input values Range – set of output values Function – relation that has exactly one output for each input

  4. Diagrams are examples of mapping

  5. Use the vertical line test to determine if the graph is a function.

  6. Equation – representation of functions using 2 variables Solution – an ordered pair (x,y) such that when plugged in for x and y makes a true statement Independent variable – input value = x Dependent variable – output value = y Graph – collection of all points (x,y) whose coordinates are solutions of an equation

  7. Linear function – a function whose graph forms a line, the highest power is 1 Notice function notation just replaces y with f(x)

  8. Assign Pg 71-74 4, 17-27 odd, 30-32, 35-53 odd, 59-62
