West Yorkshire Police Explorer Programme • A voluntary programme for young people aged between • 16-18 years old to get an insight into 21st century • policing • A way of future/budding officers acquiring valuable • policing experiences • To engage with young people representative of the • communities of the respective Divisions delivering the • programme

Who can Apply? • Applicants must: • Be aged between 16-18 years old when the programme starts  • Live in West Yorkshire • Be able to commit to one evening per week throughout the course of • the programme.  • Be enthusiastic about the Police Service and be interested in • working in the community

  4. How does it work? • Publicity and Marketing • Application • Selection • Vetting • Induction Day • Programme of sessions • Awards Evening

  5. Where does it take place? • Local Police Station • Force Training School • Operational Support Unit • Oulton Firing Range • Magistrates Courts • Local neighbourhoods (NPT work)

  6. Do’s and Don’t’s • Don’t film, record or photograph • Don’t gossip about things you may have seen or heard, • Don’t put things on personal Facebook or similar sites • Participate as much as you can and enjoy the programme
