  20. Religions in the DudleyThere are lots of different religions in the Black Country. There are Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Jehovah Witnesses are just a small selection. If more communities came together and worked together perhaps this would help stop religious wars and create more world peace.

  21. Learning about Christians and how that helped Pedmore Primaryby Oliver1 our local belief is Christianity since our school is a Christian school. Also in Lye there is a mosque where Muslims go as their version of a church. Near Hagley there is a synagogue and in a synagogue Jews pray and worship God.2 The local representative of Christianity is Andrew, the Rector of Saint Peter’s Church.3 He comes in to our school and gives us examples of the modern day Bible in action. He also helps out with the cubs inside of the church.4 For this faith we use a church. 5 Our main festivals are Christmas which celebrates Jesus’s birth and Good Friday when we remember His death Easter and Resurrection when we believe He came back to life.6 If we want to worship God we have a choice to go to a church on Sunday.

  22. Some other interesting facts:Our school has a long history. The first head teacher was Mrs L.A. Loach. The creator and designer of our local church was Tom Grazebrook of Dene and it was opened on the 16th of December 1902. Athletes would sometimes come to our school to teach the children different sports and show them drills for that sport. Our school was started by St. Peter’s Church as, at the time, there were no other schools in Pedmore and if you wanted to go to school you would have to have travelled a long way.

  23. Anglican Religion. Here’s some info about Anglican beliefs:Anglicans say that the Anglican religion started with ministry of Christ and its Apostles. In the late 1600 the church of England had settled in the Anglican religion. The Anglican church has 77 million people world-wide.The name Anglican means religion of England but is exists world-wide.The name Anglican means religion of England it started in the 6th century when pope Gregory came to England.

  24. What Anglicans are.An Anglican is someone who are a member of the church or more properly the Anglican communion. They have faith and belief. Anglican church.

  25. Jehovah witnessMany people want to know what Jehovah witness believe.Jehovah witness was found in 1879 by Charles Taze Russell.Today there are over a million practicing Jehovah’s witness world-wide.Russell’s Adventist background and study of the bible led him to conclude ,among other things, that the second coming of Christ world occur in 1914, that hellfire did not exist, and god was not a trinity. There are about 6.9 million active witness in 235 countries in the world [2007], including 1 million in the USA and 130, 000 in the UK.

  26. Pedmore through the agesOur whole school started when John Whiteley died in 1901. His children wanted a permanent memorial which they would be able to remember him by. At first, the children wanted an organ in the church. However, the community thought that there should be something larger as a memorial. J.B Cochrane offered a piece of land to them. The Whiteley family agreed with this and they decided to build the building which today is our school. This building was designed by Tom Grazebrooke of the Dene. It was fully opened on the 16th December 1902.

  27. The Church through the agesOver the ages, the church has had many rectors. From 1856 to 1879 John Henry Whitely was rector, so can you work out how many years he was rector? If you said 23 years you are correct. Then, Anthony Walter was rector from 1879. When he was rector he was assisted by two Churchwardens. From 1894 the churchwardens were W. Henry King and G. MacPherson.     Now, our rector is Andrew, he does lots of special deeds for the church. For example, I am in a cub group and he sometimes helps us achieve our badges. He also runs all of the services. He also comes into our school and tells us some Bible stories.

  28. The different religions in my class. (Max Webster)In my class there are lots of different religions. There are Anglicans,Muslims, Catholics and Atheists. For Christians, we have a church as our holy place of worship. Muslims go to worship in a mosque and Catholics worship in a Catholic Church. Atheists don’t believe in any religion. As a Church of England school, Jesus affects us all because we want to be like him. For example, we send shoe boxes full with toys to the poor. We also sometimes raise money and give it to charities.

  29. The CelebrationsIn the Christian faith we have some special celebrations. Some of these are Christmas, Lent, Easter and Good Friday. Christmas was when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Lent is when Jesus spent 40 days in the desert without any food or water. We as Christians try to give up something such as an Xbox as Jesus gave up food and water. Good Friday was when Jesus died. You might be thinking, why is it good if somebody died. Well, it was good because Jesus went up to his Father in heaven who we call God. Easter was when Jesus rose again; this made everyone happy as we learnt that there is life after we die.
