IntroductionImportant driving forces • Pressure on PRO’s to enter the market combined with their public mission confronts PRO’s with a dilemma • Shift universities to mode 2 and the advent of KIBS question the raison d’etre of PRO’s • Decrease industrial R&D resulting in stronger links (grip on) with universities: what about the mission of the universities?

Fundamental Questions • What precisely is the mission of PRO’s in our innovation systems? • Legitimation of E in EPRO? • What is the raison d’etre of EPRO’s vis a vis Mode 2 universities and KIBS? • Do EPRO’s stil adhere too much to the linear model?. Transfer knowledge from A to B (no coproduction of knowledge). Too much emphasis on own, new knowledge. Too less emphasis on exploitation worldwide knowledge pool

  5. Practical Questions • Given that we agree upon the mission and legitinmacy of EPRO’s, what then are succesful businessmodels? • How far are these models context/country dependent? • Does there also exist something as an ideal businessmodel for EPRO’s?

  6. Procedure • Three presentations covering the academic, PRO and “broker” perspective of MAX 25’ • After each presentation informative questions • After the break the general debate.
