  3. Jesus as the Son of David • Genealogy of David -Shows Jesus as Royal Decent -Linking to the Old Testament • Birth of Jesus serves to situate Jesus within God’s people.

  4. God’s Ongoing Presence Angel tells Joseph Mary is conceived by the Holy Spirit. (Religious Interpretation) He does not divorce her!

  5. Jesus as New Moses Both born into danger (Historical) Massacre of Infants parallels the Old Testament story of the killing of children in Egypt Both occurred because Herod/Pharoah felt threatened by Jesus/Moses.
