Their story is teased out through discussion and questioning in class and at home. • There are supports at the back of the book.

  10. Big Cat Readers • Children complete a range of written and oral activities related to the text to develop their range of reading attack strategies. • Children’s reading and phonics go hand in hand. As they learn their sounds so they learn to build words. They also learn sight vocabulary ie words that they can’t break down and sound out eg the, could, there

Numeracy and Mathematics Numeracy covers:  number, money and measure  information handling  shape position and movement  problem solving The NAC Numeracy Framework is followed and supplemented by materials such as Edpax ,educationcity, Number Zoo, Number Talks and other teacher sourced resources and games, to develop strategies through peer discussion and activities. Active learning is used to allow children to apply their learning, explore and investigate, problem solve and reinforce. Eg sand, water, loose parts play, playdough, painting, white boards and so on…

  12. Numeracy and maths • Edpax • Number talks • Practical activities: painting, matching, stamping, ordering, • Indoors and outdoors • Ipad apps • Educationcity • Topmarks maths
