  1. 4 Common Myths Associated with Child Adoption in India Adoption is a process by which all parental rights are legally transferred to adopting parents. However, child adoption is not just a legal process. It is also a social and emotional process. Over the past few years, the government has tried to simplify the process of child adoption in India. Although, this concept is gaining acceptance in Indian society, there are many adoption myths that still need to be dispelled. These include: 1. It takes years to adopt a kid There is no denying the fact that many legal formalities are involved in child adoption process. Moreover, due to shortfall of babies, there is often a long waiting list for adoption. At times, the wait can be rather long and frustrating. However, in recent years, many steps have been taken to simplify the whole process and make it easier for couples to adopt children. 2. It’s expensive Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), the government agency regulating adoptions in India, has a fixed fee structure for child adoption. Most couples can afford to pay the adoption fee.

  2. The agencies are not supposed to overcharge these couples. 3. It’s difficult to bond with an adopted child When it comes to adopting a child, many parents fear that they won’t be able to give the same love or form a strong bond with the child. As many parents who’ve adopted a child would tell you, it’s possible to love a biological child and an adopted child in exactly the same way. 4. The society will demand an explanation Many people, particularly singles, hesitate to adopt a kid as they fear that they will have a hard time explaining their choice to others. Indian society is changing and people have become more acceptable of single parents. Moreover, it is important to understand that you don’t owe an explanation to anyone for the choices you make in your life. It is important to get rid of all the above-mentioned myths that are commonly associated with child adoption in India. Adopting a child can bring happiness and fulfillment in the life of a couple. As the attitude of the society towards child adoption continues to change, it has become easier for everyone to adopt a child and bring happiness in the lives of many people in one go.
