  2. Did you know that God is a joyful God? Nehemiah 8:10b (NKJV)… Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

  3. 1 Timothy 1:11 (NKJV) according to the glorious gospel of the blessed (happy) God which was committed to my trust.

  4. Do you know the joy of the Lord? Philippians 4:4 (NKJV)Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

  5. Your Joy in the Lord is a Distinguishing Characteristic that you are a Christian! • Joy is to be continually practiced by the Christian(Phil. 3:1; 4:4; 1 Thes. 5:16). • A joyless life is not a life of a Christian.

  6. If you do not have regular moments of joy in the Lord, ask yourself: • Am I saved?

  7. Acts 2:41, 47b (NKJV) 41 Then those who gladlyreceived his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 47 … And the Lord added to the churchdaily those who were being saved.

  8. “Being saved” or true conversion will result in great joy in the heart of each and every person.

  9. Acts 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.

  10. Acts 16:33-34 (NKJV) 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed theirstripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.

  11. If you do not have regular moments of joy in the Lord, ask yourself: • Am I saved? • Do I know the joy of the Holy Spirit?

  12. 1 Thessalonians 1:6 (NKJV) And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit.

  13. Every person converted to Christ at baptism receives the gift of the Holy Spirit who indwells him/her (Acts 2:38; Rom. 5:5; 1 Cor. 6:19).

  14. Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

  15. Ephesian 5:18 (NKJV) And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.

  16. If you do not have regular moments of joy in the Lord, ask yourself: • Am I saved? • Do I know the joy of the Holy Spirit? • Am I doing something to hinder my joy? • Examples: Conformity to the world, evil companions, practice of sin.

  17. Forsake whatever it is that is keeping you from rejoicing in the Lord. Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV)He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes themwill have mercy.

  18. How to Have Joy in the Lord.

  19. Everyday, rejoice in your relationship with God. 1 John 3:1a (NKJV) Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!

Isaiah 61:10 (NKJV) I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - cf. Romans 5:1-2

  21. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Make prayer a top priority. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.- cf. Philippians 4:4-7

  22. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Spend time in God’s word. Psalms 119:14, 111 (NASB) I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.111 I have inherited Thy testimonies forever, for they are the joy of my heart.

  23. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Sing praises. Psalms 95:1-3 (NASB)1 O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

  24. James 5:13 (NKJV) Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.

  25. Ephesians 5:19 (NKJV) speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

  26. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Obey the Lord John 15:10-12 (NKJV) 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, thatMy joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

  27. John 13:17 (NKJV) If you know these things, blessed (happy – KJV) are you if you do them.

  28. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Help people get to heaven. Luke 15:7, 10 (NKJV)7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance… 10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

  29. 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 (NKJV) 19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? 20 For you are our glory and joy.

  30. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Receive joy from your brethren 2 Corinthians 1:24 (NASB) Not that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm.

  31. How to Have Joy in the Lord: Choose joy James 1:2-4 (NKJV)2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have itsperfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Luke 6:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man's sake. 23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

  33. Come to Know the “Inexpressible” Joy of God!

  34. 1 Peter 1:8-9 (NKJV) 8 whom having not seenyou love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith — the salvation of your souls.
