Citizen Consultation on Media and News Quality in Bolivia: “YOUR WORD ABOUT NEWS”

What do Citizen Consultations want to know? • Which are the people’s favorite media for receiving news • What kind of news is considered most useful • Which medium is considered the most reliable • If people trust the news • What people think of journalism and journalists • What people say must be improved • If people understand the meaning and utility of information and communication rights

Main results • TV is the favorite medium and the most reliable • People use news especially for staying up to date • News are very important in an electoral period for people • People believe only partially in news content • People appreciate journalists work to a high degree • People consider that journalism need to be improved • People criticize infotainment, imbalance, sensationalism • and politicization in journalism
