  19. Purity and Faith David, Our Hero, A Sinner Given a Pure Heart Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being… Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow… Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:1-3, 6-7,10)

  20. Purity and Faith You, God’s Hero, A Sinner … A Practical Reality! Given a Pure Heart Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.

  21. Purity and Faith You, God’s Hero, A Sinner … A Practical Reality! Given a Pure Heart …God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all… but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. (1 Jn.1:5, 7-10)

  23. Purity and Faith You, God’s Hero, A Sinner … A Practical Reality! Given a Pure Heart For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Heb.9:13-14) Do you really believe that Christ’s blood is effective to completely cleanse you at the beginning of your thoughts and emotions… in your heart?

  24. Actions Words E C D S W . T Think about your own heart again… How does the reality of God’s complete cleansing of your heart make you feel? Apply the blood of Christ to the sins of your heart. Then, believe that you are pure at the core. 25. Faith in the Effectiveness of Christ’s Blood to Cleanse Your Heart is Practical • Faith in your purity at your core will affect each thought you have • Each emotion (“How blessed (happy!) is he whose transgression is forgiven.” (Ps. 32:1)) • A pure core will generate pure thoughts • What thoughts and emotions are generated from a guilty heart?... a heart seeking to justify, or deny, or rationalize? • Faith in your pure heart affects the way you feel and the way you think.

  26. The Heart Purity and Faith • Know your heart • Not just your words and actions • Cultivate tenderness by humbly making purity of heart practical • When there is sin in your heart, go back to the core and apply the blood of Christ • Don’t shrink back from faith in the reality of what cost Him so much to provide to you. • Enjoy the fruit of a pure heart, made that way by Christ’s work!
