Are you in the right CLASS? • 10th graders—Being here means an advanced math class next year and senior year* • Dual credit pre-cal can only be taken after PRE-AP Algebra 2 • 11th graders– Taking Algebra 2 this year means you have chosen to take an advanced math class next year (pre-cal, engineering math or AQR ) • 12th graders– you are here. This is your last math class in high school. You must pass to graduate!

  4. What are we going to do in here? • We are going to work, and work, and work some more! • We are going to expand your math brain! • Everyone will have the opportunity to be successful!

  5. What is expected of the students? • Treat everyone with respect • Do your part to contribute to your success • Follow all school policies

  6. What do I need for class? EVERY DAY you will need: • Writing utensil (pencil works best) • Folder or spiral for notes and papers • Four AAA batteries or $3.00

  7. What do those numbers on the board mean? • Homework on the board process • Responsible for three problems per week* • Three problems per week earns 100 • Less than three earns 0 • Credit for attempted problem • Short quizzes • Homework not taken up every day

  8. What Can I Get Away With? • All school policies will be enforced (tardies, dress code, cell phone, food and drink in classroom, etc.) • No behavior that is distracting or disruptive will be allowed.

  9. How will I be graded? • Tests 60% • Quizzes 25% • Daily Work 15%

  10. What will Mrs. Ruddell do for me? • I will treat you with respect • I will offer extra help (tutorials after school , before school) • I will give you opportunities to be successful (re-do, correct policies)

  11. FAQ • Are we doing anything today? (Yes, always yes) • When are we going to use this? (Today, immediately) See poster on wall. • Will this be on the test? (Yes) • Are we having homework? (most days)* • Can I go to the bathroom? (You will have two bathroom passes each six weeks, used at teacher discression.)

  12. Why all these rules and all this work? • My job is to see that you learn the material required by the state for your particular course. • If you spend all year in my class and don’t learn the material, your time and mine has been wasted. • I want you to be prepared for your next math class. (yes, you will be taking more math!)
