Game Day Schedule • Welcome - Prayer - Flag Ceremony • Be prepared to help with flags and teams • Gospel Presentation • Help coaches to keep Clubbers quiet and seated • Presentation of Teams • AwanaGames Events (total of 10) • Awards • Help with awards tables, hand out awards to your assigned color line • Preparation for next group or cleanup

  3. On AwanaGames DayLine Judges • Arrive at least 90 minutes early. (Some of you may be asked to be earlier to help with setup and the circle tape.) • Report to the Line Judge coordinator. He will give you your shirt and instructions for the day. • Help teams and spectators to stay off circles before meet. • Help direct teams to their color lines and make sure all are wearing gym shoes. • Attend Line Judges meeting before the meet.

  4. Coaches • All girls’ teams should be coached by women • All boys’ teams should be coached by men • Only two coaches per team • Coaches may ask their Line Judge to review a decision with the Circle Director • Coaches must remain behind team lines while events are in progress

  5. Game Day Schedule • Arrive at least 60 minutes early(check-in, pictures) • Coaches meeting before start • Welcome - Prayer - Flag Ceremony • Gospel Presentation • Help keep Clubbers quiet and seated • Presentation of Teams • Events • Awards

  6. Team Members • Players must stay seated behind team line when not playing • Coach must have on the floor a permission slip for each team member. • Team Outfits: • Christian standards of dress • NO shorts • Must wear gym shoes

  7. Team Requirements • Boys’ teams and girls’ teams are constituted as follows: • Minimum of 10 players • Maximum of 14 players • Maximum of 7 - 5th and 6th graders. • COED: 6 to 7 girls and 6 to 7 boys • No more than half in 5th/6th.

  8. Team Qualifications • 3rd and 4th graders who have not reached their 11th birthday by September 1, Club Year. • 5th and 6th graders who have not reached their 13 th birthday by September 1, Club Year. • Must have completed 10 sections. • Sparkies may be substituted for 3rd and 4th.

  9. DQ General Rules - Floor Markings • Colored or white tape, if toe crosses line (“breaks the vertical plane”) then clubber is disqualified! Disqualified OK OK

  10. General Rules - Participation • Each player is limited to 6 events(except COED see rule book). • Each player must play at least 2 events. • No player may play in more than 1 running event(except COED see rule book). (Sprint Relay, Sprint Race, Marathon Relay or Marathon Race) • No jewelry is to be worn during game play (watches, bracelets, necklaces, etc.)

  12. Team Zone General Rules - Passing Zone • The baton must be passed within the triangular team zone.

  13. General Rules - Passing Rule • In all running events, a runner that is tagged by hand must move to the right to allow the tagging player to pass. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. Tagged runner must move to the right to allow runner to pass

  14. General Rules - Definitions • Possession: Baton, balloon or beanbag in hand when scoring. • Scoring - Players should notleave circle until scoring hasbeen determined. • Scoring Pins: Pins set at Five foot mark are to be touched by hand.

  15. General Rules - Definitions • Tie Game (Event): If the Circle Director determines that 2 teams touch their scoring pins at the same time, a tie is declared. Available points are divided equally between the tied teams. • Tie Score: Replay team heat Beanbag Relay

Bean Bag Relay Event #1 • Girls/Boys: 10 players - three heats Five players - Heat 1 Five different players - Heat 2 10 players - Team heat • COEDFive girls – Heat 1 Five boys – Heat 2 10 players – Heat 3 • If a team is less than the players needed for heat you can repeat a throw(s) • No player except game leader (center) can throw the beanbag more than twice J 7 1 6 5 2 3 4

Bean Bag Relay Event #1 • Game leader must have 1 foot in triangle when passing/receiving bag • Bag/players may not leave team zone - DQ • Players feet (except leader) do not touch inside circle • Bags must be tossed in sequence • Game leader receives beanbag from last player and runs around team circle pin and in to touch scoring pin with hand(s) • Leader has possession of bag when scoring J 7 6 1 2 3 5 4

Sprint Relay Event #2 • 1 heat • Two 3rd/4th • One 5th/6th • All run 1 lap each • Runners cannot participate in other running events (except COED) • Pass rule in effect • Baton must be passed in team zone • Dropped baton can be picked up if not out of game square • Runner has possession of baton when scoring J

Sprint Relay Event #2 Line Judge • Check team scoring pin for correct location • Check team circle pin for correct location • Watch for false starts • Watch for pass rule • Watch quadrant for rule violations • Baton is passed in team zone • Runner has possession of baton when scoring • Note the place your team finishes • Runners cannot participate in other running events (except COED) J

Bean Bag Bonanza Event #3 • 10 players: two heats • Heat One: five players • Heat Two: five different players • COED: two heats girls and two heats boys • The colored beanbag is placed in the center of each team center triangle. The five players line up on their circle line. • Player #1 holds the striped beanbag in his/her hand. At the starting signal, player #1 (the player farthest from the starting diagonal) runs into the team center triangle, switches the striped beanbag for the colored beanbag, runs back to circle line, and hands the colored bag to player #2 J 1 5

  24. Bean Bag Bonanza Event #3 • Player #2 runs into the team center triangle and switches the colored beanbag back for the striped beanbag, returning to circle line to hand striped beanbag to player #3, who repeats the action. • Play continues until player #5 switches the bags. He/she then hands his/her bag to player #1, and play continues for a second round. Each player will run into the circle two times. • The second time player #5 goes in, he/she does not switch the bags; rather, he/she runs in to touch the scoring pin with their hand. He/she must have possession of the bean bag to win the event. J 1 5

Bean Bag Bonanza Event #3 Line Judge • Colored bag in center, striped with player #1 • Watch players as they receive Beanbag they can correct themselves • Watch bag placement • DQ if bag not properly placed in triangle • Bags may not go outside inner triangle or leave team zone • On first round player 5 switches bags and hands bag to player 1 • On second round player five touches scoring pin • Note place your team finished J 1 5

  26. Three Legged Race Event #4 • Four runners (two laps each) - two heats • 1st heat - two 3rd-4th graders • 2nd heat - two 5th-6th graders • COED: 2 heats - 3rd-4th graders, 2 heats – 5th-6th graders; girls then boys. • Team’s should bring their own three-Legged race bands Scoring PinHere J

  27. Three Legged Race Event #4 • Players run 2 laps • Coach secures leg band • Slower runners, move to their right to allow Faster runners to pass • If leg band comes off - players are disqualified • Fallen runners may get up and continue if not passed or tagged • Pin must be touched with hand(s) only to win Scoring PinHere J

  29. Sprint Race Event #5 • 1 heat - 3 laps • 3rd/4th only • Runners cannot participate in other running events (except COED) • Pass rule in effect • Tagged runners move to their right and allow team to pass • Runner must touch scoring pin with hand (s) to score J

Four-Way Tug Event #6 • Six players - three heats • 1st heat - two 3rd-4th graders • 2nd heat - two 5th-6th graders • 3rd heat - two 5th-6th graders • COED: • two heats 3rd-4th grade girls one heat 5th-6th grade girls two heats 5th-6th grade boys one heat 5th-6th grade boys • Equipment:Seven-foot four-way rope (spliced in middle for even pull) and four beanbags, one of which is placed on 17-foot mark on each team diagonal line. J J J J

  32. Bean Bag on intersection of lines! Four-Way Tug Event #6 • Play starts with rope taut and both hands on rope • No wrapping rope around any part of body • Bag is started on the 17’ mark (3rd/4th) & (5th/6th) and moved to the next 1’ mark on the diagonal at 15 second intervals • Both players must have hold of rope as well as one having the beanbag • Players may use gloves • Line judge will not take away earned advantage J J J J

Knock It Down Event #7 • One player - two heats 1st heat - one 3rd-4th grader 2nd heat - one 5th-6th grader • COED – 4 heats; 5th-6th graders – 2 girls then 2 boys • The player begins outside the circle behind the team diagonal with the colored beanbag in his hand. • At the starting signal, the player runs around the circle until he/she is back in his/her team zone • At that time, he/she takes the beanbag and tries to knock down their team’s scoring pin using the beanbag. When throwing the beanbag, the player must be outside the circle.

  35. Knock It Down Event #7 • If the player misses his/her scoring pin, they may run into the circle and retrieve their beanbag, exit the circle to anywhere outside the circle and try again. • The first team to have their scoring pin knocked down, whether by their player or another player, wins the heat. • Play will continue until all pins have been knocked over to account for any disqualifications. • There is a 60 second time limit on this game

Marathon Relay Event #8 • 1 heat • One 3rd/4th grader • Two 5th/6th grader • COED girls heat / boys heat • All run 2 laps each • Runners cannot participate in other running events (except COED) • Baton must be passed in team zone • Dropped baton can be picked up if not out of game square • Runner has possession of baton when scoring J

Marathon Race Event #9 • 1 heat • 5th/6th grader - 6 laps • COED: 5th-6th grade girl / 5th-6th grade boy • Runners cannot participate in other running events (except COED) • Pass rule in effect • Tagged runners move to their right to allow team to pass • Runner must touch scoring pin with hand to score J

  38. Balloon Relay Event #10 • Two heats: Boy’s Teams and Girl’s Teams • Heat 1 - Five players • Heat 2 - Five different players • COED: four heats- 2 heats of 5 girls / 2 heats of 5 boys Zone 3 Zone 2 Zone 1 J

  39. Balloon Relay Event #10 • 5 different clubbers each heat • Players must straddle line and face center at start • Player in zone 1 must start with balloon on back of neck, using both hands • Balloon must go between legs of each player • Player in zone 1 must stay in front of 8’ line while passing balloon • Player in zone 3 must stay behind circle line when receiving balloon • Broken balloon - DQ • Must have un-broken balloon to score Zone 3 Zone 2 Zone 1 J

  40. Balloon Relay Event #10 Line Judge • Make sure players are in correct starting positions • Give player balloon when ready (back of neck with both hands) • Make sure balloon goes through all legs • Watch for disqualifications and stop immediately • Note place your team finshed • Rotate every “heat” Zone 3 Zone 2 Zone 1 J
