  1. Wellbeing Supporters Project Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester

  2. Outline of Project • Project will sit under VAAC’s Volunteer Service Managed by Hilary Spencer (CEO) • Wellbeing Supporter Co-ordinator – Sarah Cartey • Where? Main office at Bognor Regis Town Hall and office space at the Bradbury Centre, Littlehampton • Hours – 22.5 per week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

  3. What is the Project about? • Arose from need for individuals to be supported while they are trying to achieve a health outcome (e.g. losing weight) • It was found that individuals respond well to support and mentoring from peers who have had the same issues and understand the barriers faced • Idea arose for volunteers (preferably ‘peers’) to become ‘wellbeing supporters’ – current team restrained by time • Once recruited volunteers receive support and training to enable them to undertake their role • Aim is to help wellbeing groups become self-sustaining in the longer term – support will be offered from VAAC Development Team to achieve this

  4. Tasks and Timeline (approximate) • Co-ordinator Induction (early November 2013) • Design of Wellbeing Supporter Programme intensive two-day training – (late November 2013) • Recruitment of Volunteers (December 2013 & ongoing) • Taster days to engage groups & individuals • Delivery of Training Programme (January 2013) • Wellbeing Supporter Network Meetings (Feb/March 2014)

  5. And Finally.. • Are you able to help? • Do you know of any individuals who have had a successful outcome who may like to become ‘wellbeing supporters’? If so, please do get in touch… Contact: Sarah Cartey at VAAC • Tel: 01243 864220 • Email: wellbeing@vaac.org.uk
