Burj al Arab (translated: "Tower of the Arabs") is a luxury hotel in Dubai, the only seven-star in the world , designed by British architect Tom Wright. At 321 feet tall is the tallest building used exclusively as a hotel. It is located on an artificial island, 280 meters away from Jumeirah, is connected to the shore by a private curved bridge.

Construction • The construction began in 1994 and was completed in 1999. The building contains over 70,000 m3 of concrete and 9,000 tons of steel, and the total cost was approximately $1.6 billion.Although it took no less than three years to achieve the Foundation, the building itself waserected in less than three years. 230 concrete pillars, stuck in the sand to 40 feet deep,set the foundation consists of massive rocks and concrete

Appearance • Construction shape mimics a typical Arab boat with sails, called "Dhow". If Burj Al Arab'sexterior is an expression of modern architecture, interior, designed by designer KhuanChew is a luxurious combination of Western and Eastern styles. It has a large atrium 180feet high and boasts 8.000 m2 covered with gold leaf 22 carat and 24,000 m2 of marble.
