Storify Story Storify: Closing of Vapiano On Sunday night’s, Vapiano was the place to go for a quick and cheap meal.  Sunday was half-off any food item you chose.  Now, after two years of being open, it has closed down.  Or rather, has been forced to vacate the premises, as EscapeHatchDallas, notes. In 2010, the neighborhood kids at SMU crowned this fast-casual Italian spot as “Best New Restaurant.”  And in 2009 there were named one of the “Hot New Concepts” by Nation’s Restaurant News. But part of the concept never seemed to connect with customers, stated The Dallas Observer: Food Blog.  They had an unnecessary payment system where customers were given a plastic card after ordering, then paid with the card on the way out.  Owner of Vapiano, Tim McCallum hopes to open back up soon.   “We will send out info when we do,” McCallum replied.
