  3. Factors: • The size of particles of a solid reactant. • The concentrations of the reactants in solution. • The temperature. • The addition of a catalyst.

  4. The size of particles of a solid reactant. The smaller the particles, the faster the reaction (more surface area, so more chance of collision). Marble chips Marble powder

  5. The concentrations of the reactants in solution. The more particles there are of a substance in a given volume, the more chance they will collide with the reactant; this produces a greater speed of reaction. High Low

  6. The temperature. The more energy the particles have, the more they move around, and the chance of reactant collision increases.

  7. The addition of a catalyst. This depends on the reaction in question; certain catalysts only work with certain reactants. A catalyst is a substance which can speed up the rate of a chemical reaction without being used up.
