The Role of the United States • Traditionally the American government has fought the wars, that the U.S. military is involved in. • But what is needed is an understanding of geopolitics and the art of war. • Geopolitics- the study of the geographical assumptions designations and understanding that enter into the making or world politics. • Sovereignty- a condition of final and absolute authority in a political community. • Not achieved until a country is a recognized state with total control over territory within its borders, the bureaucracy, and a monopoly of the use of force within the nation, its money, as well as its laws.

The Problems • Lack of infrastructure • Due to the preemption set out by president bush • insurgency • Lack of police force • Participate in rouge behavior aiding in the insurgency • Police tend to unjustly detain, torture and harass Sunni Arabs. • Lack of military control and force • Lack of personnel • Lack of leadership • Lack of equipment • Lack of logistical support • Lack of a central government • Sunni run government (not supported) although the country’s majority.

Solutions • More military aid for the Iraqi troops • Essential just as we take care or our troops the Iraqi government needs to take care of theirs. • We have the funds to do it so instead of only sending 17 million for Iraqi troops try 17 billion. • Increase benefits so that more Citizens will join. • Social responsibility to serve nation • Increase leadership training

Solutions • Timeline of troop with drawl • Top secret ( no public knowledge) • Allow Iraqi government sovereignty • Iraqi Police • Punishment handed down on cops who aid in insurgency • Benefits and incentives for following orders • A regulated time of leave • Government • Representation by Kurds, Sunni’s and Shi'a • To allow all sects to feel safe and so that all needs are meet. • Ability to functions as a state with total control over territory, the bureaucracy, and a monopoly of the use of force within the nation, its money, as well as its laws

  7. Conclusion • With these new implementation the new government should be able to gain control over its borders. • The united states will be able to bring it’s troops home • It will take lots of time and money • In the end we are seen as the saviors Of Iraq and not its occupiers.
