  2. ¿Qué es el pretérito? • The preterit is used to talked about what happened or what someone did at a specific point in the past. • (A simple past action) ¡Yo terminé!

  3. ¿Cómo se forma? AR verbs • To say an action happened at a specific time in the past, add the following endings: AR verbs (yo) -é (nosotros) -amos (tú) -aste (vosotros) -asteis (él…) -ó (ellos…) -aron

  4. Ejemplos I talked with you. (hablar) Yo hablé contigo. We ate lunch. (almorzar) Nosotros almorzamos. She sang a song. Ella cantó una canción.

  5. The verb IR in the preterite • Ir (to go) Yo fui Nosotros fuimos Tú fuiste Vosotros fuisteis Él… fue Ellos…fueron Ella fue a la escuela. Yo fui a la fiesta.

  6. Stem-changing verbs • Stem changing verbs do not use the same stem change in the preterite. Dormir (to sleep) Yo dormí (I slept.) Encontrar (to find) Yo encontré (I found) • Remember to use the correct reflexive pronoun if a verb is reflexive. Yo me levanté. (I got up.)
