About the Program • Developed with the simple purpose of providing a helping hand to the needy families of Egypt • Part of a much larger program setup to help poor families across Egypt • Targeting the families of Al-Zarayib region near Ezbet El-Nakhl • Our church has committed to sponsoring 110 families & university students – as a start! • More than 50 families from our church have pledged their support • $365/year/family – monthly help, extra amount for feasts, and any other necessary materials

The Neighbourhood • Ezbet El-Nakhl is a primarily Christian neighbourhood with 3 churches served by 10 priests. • Zarayib has existed for about 30 years and has more than 8,000 families • Very poor district, shanty homes or incomplete buildings • Mainly work in garbage collecting or raising pigs • Our host church is St. Mary’s Church, served by Father Arthanious Ezbit El-Nakhl

  4. The Activities • Targets the sick, disabled, orphans, families with many children, university students, & those of very low income • Providing home improvement & furniture • Help in job searching & enrolment in job training • Providing micro-loans to help start businesses • Advising on legal and social issues • Summer trips for all the families • Creating a database of people’s names & addresses • Programs for the deaf and mute in the community
