  2. The Individual My child’s name is Todd. He is 10 years of age and lives in Turella. He has moved from the Lismore/Ballina area which is a predominately Anglo-Saxon area. He now attends a Catholic Primary School where he has come into contact with a wider range of cultural and ethnic groups. Within the last two years he has experienced and dealt with losing his mother to cancer. This event played a part in the reason the family relocated to Sydney .Todd’s Father decided moved down to be with his now Stepmother. He lives with his Father Stepmother and two step sisters. He also has an older brother and sister who are eight and ten years older than him.

Microsystem • Attends a Catholic School • Close relationship with his blood family, they were pulled together through the loss of his Mother • Close relationship between his family and “step family” • One year age difference between Todd and one of his step sisters, provides basis of relationship. • Many areas of bush lands and wet lands throughout Bardwell Park and the Rockdale Council area including Bardwell Valley, Wolli Valley, Stotts Reserve, Frys Reserve and the Rockdale Wetlands Corridor. • Church at the Catholic School Todd is attending. http://www.rockdale.nsw.gov.au/pages/pdf/AboutCouncil/environmental_management_2008_2011.pdf

Mesosystem • Existing relationship between the two families provides an uncomplicated situation for Todd because his new family is familiar faces. • Todd’s step family can also provide support for Todd and his family because they knew his mother. • Todd’s step family have also faced tragedy with psychological abuse of the mother so they too are a close knit family • Family doctor is a close friend of Todd’s stepmother. This could provide a safe environment for Todd and his family

  5. Exosystem • Father owns a business but it does not provide much income • Stepmother does not work and assumes the role of the housewife • Father has a close knit group of friends that he has kept from playing football, showing Todd the importance of loyal friends and relationships

  6. Macrosystem • Freedom of religion in Australia provides Todd with the opportunity to attend a Catholic Primary school. • Ballina and Sydney are culturally different. Ballina is a laid back, beach town and close knit community. Sydney is a large city and the closest beach to Turella is half an hour’s drive.

  7. Chronosystem • Todd’s family was affected by the loss of his Mother to cancer • When Todd’s mother was diagnosed with cancer his Father decided to move to Ballina from Sydney • When Todd’s Mother passed they moved from Ballina to Sydney
