  2. Russian Civil War (1917~1923) • Long civil war between the Reds and Whites in Russia • Reds - Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army • Whites – White Guard (Anti-Communist counter revolutionary forces)

  3. Rosewood Massacre (January, 1923) • Race riot • At least 6 blacks, 2 whites killed • Town of Rosewood abandoned

  4. Honda Point Disaster (September, 1923) • Eleven US navy destroyers left Point Pedernales (Honda) • Submerged rocks on coast destroyed the destroyers • 7 new ships destroyed, 23 lives lost

Reorganization of the Kuomintang (1923~1924) • Change of social thoughts in China • Before 1911, Chinese social thoughts were focused on racial problems (Chinese and Manchu) • Three stages: • Adoption of the name of the party • Acceptance of communist members & Alliance with Russia in1923 • Fulfillment of policy in 1924
