Monsters can be physically scary, violent, abnormal creatures, or emotionally harmful • But they do not have to be all of those things • Definition of a Monster: • Any animal or human grotesquely deviating from the normal shape, behavior, or character • Something in life that harms someone in some way, emotionally, physically, or mentally • Does not have to be a physical “monster”

  7. Why Grendel is a monster • Scary appearance • Kills people for pleasure • Eats People • Does immoral things • Can’t communicate with humans clearly • Misunderstood by the Danes • Has charm from dragon, which makes him nearly invincible

  8. Why The Danes are monsters • Kill and steal stuff from other tribes • Kill other people for pleasure • Do immoral things • Attack Grendel first • Drink and party • Boast

  9. Modern day Monsters • Criminals • Bullies • Political Leaders • The Future • Drugs/ Addictions • Wanting to Succeed/ Fear of Failure
