  1. IRRIGATION MASTER PLAN

  2. “THE COURSE” Soakage Area The Lagoon

  3. ‘THE BRIEF’ • Investigate potential Water Storage location • Evaluate existing Pumping System • Coordinate Geotech Survey to identify potential suitable Storage location • Evaluate likely Water Usage & Storage Capacity • Prepare Budget Estimates • Prepare Irrigation System Master Plan • Allow for future irrigation of fairway approaches • Utilise existing components were possible • Allow for Staging of installation • Prepare ‘Master Plan’ Drawings for future planning

  4. “THE PROCESS” • To achieve our objectives BWC undertook: • Visual Audit of the existing Irrigation & Pumping System • Produced accurate working CAD Drawings utilising aerial photographs • Coordination & Liaison with Club Personnel • Coordinated Geotech Investigation & Report for potential Dam locations • Gathered limited professional advice & budget estimate for Dam Construction • Liaison with relevant Authority regarding licence of existing Pump System • Prepared “Master Plan” layout of new irrigation system • Calculation of potential water use & system duty • Calculation of Budget Estimates for Irrigation System, Storage Dam & Pump Works

  5. “THE RESULTS” • Water Storage • Based on results from the Geotech Investigation the suggested location of a Dam would be between the 8th Fairway & the Driving Range • A ‘Turkey Nest’ style Dam is recommended • Nominal capacity of 16 MgL • Dam to be ‘Lined’ due to soil conditions • To accommodate the Dam the existing practice Tee may need to be relocated

  6. “PROPOSED DAM LOCATION” Looking south across Practice Fairway

  7. “THE RESULTS” • Irrigation System • “Master Plan” System Design provided to allow staging of a complete system capable of efficiently irrigating Greens, Tees & nominated Fairways • Critical components incl. • Central Control ‘Decoder’ System c/w hand held radio link control • ‘Valve in Head’ Sprinklers to Greens & Fairways • Quick Coupling Valves located at Greens & Men’s Tees for manual watering • New Mainlines sized to ensure efficient operation & minimise water hammer • Some existing Mainlines to be utilised and incorporated in Mainline System

  8. “THE RESULTS” • Pumping • If No Storage Dam: • Existing Pumps should have capacity to irrigate Greens & Tees ONLY • Existing Pumps would require overhaul & possible upgrade • Sufficient Filtration would also need to be installed Note: Existing Pumps are subject to flood damage • If new Dam built: • Recommend upgrade of all Pumps • Low Head Submersible Pump to feed Dam from soakage near the Practice Fairway • High Head Submersible Pump to feed directly into system from “The Lagoon” – Duty to be compatible with existing licence. • 2 x VFD Multi-stage Centrifugal Pumps from new Dam to feed Irrigation System (1 x Pump per Stage)

  9. “THE BUDGET” • Budget Estimates: • Irrigation System Installation: (both Stages) $335,000 + GST • Turkey Nest Storage Dam: $175,000 + GST (Incl. Plastic Liner, Design & Engineering Fee) • Pumping Works: • Low Head Submersible Pump (Practice Fwy) $ 27,000 + GST • High Head Submersible Pump (The Lagoon) $ 30,000 + GST • Stage 1 – Irrigation Pump (New Dam) $ 35,000 + GST • Stage 2 – Irrigation Pump (New Dam) $ 17,500 + GST Note: No allowance for pump shed, 3 phase power or filtration

  10. “COMMENTS” • The intent of the Master Plan is to provide the Committee with a tool to assist in the future decision making process regarding Golf Course Irrigation. • Once the decision is made to proceed a “Detailed” construction design process will need to be undertaken for the purpose of Tender • We understand that budget constraints may dictate the eventual time frame of implementation and as such we have attempted to provide some flexibility for staging of the Master Pan. • Whilst all care has been taken in compiling Budget Estimates they are only ‘estimates’ and we recommend they be quantified prior to any works commencing

  11. “THANKYOU” Broadwater Consultants sincerely thank the Woodford Golf Club for their patronage and we look forward to continuing to work with the club to implement the Master Plan in the coming years
