  1. Arleta Neighborhood Council ELECTION! for the Board of Directors What are Neighborhood Councils? In 1999, voters decided that the City of Los Angeles would create Neighborhood Councils to increase the role of local communities in the decision making process of the City. The Plan for a Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils was approved on May 30, 2001 by the Los Angeles City Council. Your friends and neighbors have formed the Arleta Neighborhood Council. We invite you to participate in the 2005 election for the Board of Directors. Be a part of something that can really make a difference in our community. Join us today! Who can participate and vote? The Arleta Neighborhood Council is open to the public, and any person who is a “stakeholder” may vote and be a candidate in the upcoming election. To vote, a stakeholder must complete a Stakeholder Voter Enrollment Form on election day. A “stakeholder” is an individual who lives, works, or owns a business or property, within the ANC boundaries. In addition, stakeholders are those persons involved in community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, parks, senior-groups, and youth-groups. The Board of Directors The following 15 Board of Directors positions are to be elected to a two-year term: 3 Home/Condo owners 2 Renters 1 Businesses 2 Community based organizations 1 Faith based organizations 1 Schools 1 Parks 2 At – large 1 Seniors 1 Youth Group How can I be a candidate? 1. Submit a completed Candidate Filing Form at one of the three Candidate Information Sessions. Deadline for submittal is 9 pm on July 21, 2005 (at the final candidate information session). If you miss the filing deadline, you may file as a write-in Candidate on election day. However, your name will not appear on the ballot. Candidate Forms for write-ins must be submitted from 8:30-9:30 AM on election day, August 20. 2. In person check-in at one of three Candidate Information Sessions. Participation (staying to hear the information) is optional. 3. Provide any form of identification at one of the three Candidate Information Sessions that verifies your status as a stakeholder in the category for which you are filing candidacy.   2. El Consejo Vecinal Arleta ¡ELECCION! para la Mesa Directiva ¿Que son Consejos Vecinales? En 1999, los votantes decidieron que la Ciudad de Los Angeles crearía los Consejos Vecinales para aumentar el rollo de comunidades locales en el proceso de decisiones de la Ciudad. El Plan para un Sistema en toda la ciudad de Consejos Vecinales se aprobó el 30 de mayo de 2001 por el consejo de Los Angeles. Sus amigos y los vecinos han formado el Consejo Vecinal de Arleta. Le invitamos a participar en la eleccion 2005 para la Mesa Directiva del consejo vecinal. Sea una parte de algo que puede hacer realmente una diferencia en nuestra comunidad. ¡Únase hoy! ¿Quién puede participar y votar? Consejo Vecinal de Arleta está abierto al público, y a cualquier persona que es un “participante con interés” puede votar y ser un candidato en la elección próxima. También miembros de la comunidad son personas que participen en organizaciones sin fines de lucro o de la fe, escuelas, parques, grupos de personas mayores o de jovenes. Para ser incluido en la boleta electoral, los candidatos deben completar el formulario para los candidatos y entregarlo en uno de los tres talleres de candidatos antes del 21 de julio antes de las 9 PM (en el ultimo taller informativo de candidatos). Se permitiran los candidato- por escrito. Solo que su nombre no aparecera en la papeleta electoral. La fecha limite para declarse como candidato por-escrito es agosto 20, el dia de la eleccion. Formas deben ser entregadas personalmente entre 8:30-9:30 AM. 2. Debe de presentarse personalmente en uno de los tres talleres de candidatos. Participacion (quedarse para escuchar la Informacion) es opcional. 3. Los candidatos deben enseñar algún comprobante para verificar su estatus como miembro de la Comunidad y de la posicion o categoria de la Mesa Directiva declarada.
