  5. Objectives Students will • understand open compounds • create new compound words by using part of a compound word in the word list. • Use their new compound word in a sentence.

Word Structure Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4 • Choose a compound word from the word lines, choose one of the parts of the compound, and form a new compound word using the chosen part. • For example, using light from the compound candlelight, you might say firelight. • Use the new word in a sentence • Next volunteer use a part of the new compound to come up with another new compound • For example, campfire, and use the word in a sentence. • Continue until no new compound words can be formed, and then start again with a different compound word from the board.
