  2. What is f40? • Represents a group of the lowest funded education authorities in England • Has 32 members representing 1,924,704 pupils • Somerset County Council is a member • Website with a host of links to information • Frequent e-mails from f40 with links to news items of interest

  3. Recent Activities - NFFF • Drawn up outline proposal suggesting how a national funding framework for schools might work • Strong support for national funding • Existing model seen as unfair with no rationale • Inconsistencies in funding schools with similar characteristics across the country are too great • No room for any school to be over-funded • Academy programme is a national programme and should have a national funding model • Full proposal available on their website

Recent Activities – Meetings • Recent meeting with Rt Hon David Laws MP to discuss the NFFF on 29th October • Minutes again available on the website • Meeting held between f40 and DfE’s Director of Education Funding and Special Advisor • Particular mention of sparsity • F40 hope to organise an NFFF conference in late Jan/early Feb
