  1. Tips of daily care for seniors: How to prevent age-related diseases and live healthier and longer? Dinghua Wang OMD.Ph.D Amkey, Inc. April 6th, 2004

  2. Revolutional Breakthrough:First Cloning--Sheep Dolly

  3. Raise the hopes:1. Living forever 2. No need for surgery or drugs, simply replacing sick parts (brain, heart, kidney, liver, arms, legs) with a clone (no immune rejection)3. Creating super-intelligent people

  4. How to clone? Only female is needed to clone, male is no use.

  5. Human lifespan has been extended from 46.5 years in 1950s to 65.2 years, especially in developed countries such as USA, Japan, Europe to more than 80 years (China 71 years) in

  6. Not only live longer, but also healthyThe healthy lifespan (until you are sick and disable)Top 10 nations:Australia, 73.2 years; France, 73.1; Sweden, 73.0; Spain, 72.8; Italy, 72.7; Greece, 72.5; Switzerland, 72.5; Monaco, 72.4; Andorra, 72.3.Bottom 10 countries: Sierra Leona, 25.9; Niger, 29.1; Malawi, 29.4; Zambia, 30.3; Botswana, 32.3; Uganda, 32.7; Rwanda, 32.8; Zimbabwe, 32.9; Mali, 33.1; and Ethiopia, 33.5.Differences are really great!

  7. Why people age?(More than 300 theories and hypothesis) • Toxicity accumulation • Free Radical • (Oxidative damage)

  8. Free Radical Theory of Aging ORGANISMS 生物 Normal metabolism 正常代谢 Generation of oxidants in mitochondria 在线粒体中产生自由基 Accumulation of oxidative damage 氧化损伤累积 Major contributor to aging & age-associated diseases 衰老及衰老相关疾病发生

Organismal Level:

  10. What do your body made of and How does it work?

  11. Mitochondria decay with age 1. Decreased cardiolipin levels and structural deficit; 2. Decreased membrane potential (the driving force for ATP synthesis) and cellular oxygen consumption; 3. Increased oxidation and heterogeneity; 4. Prone to oxidative damage, leading to a vicious cycle.

  12. O2 O2-. H2O2.OH H2O Free Radical Theory of Aging Oxygen is a double-edged sword: We need it to survive, but we are killed by it at the end.

  14. Major chronic conditions affectingolder people worldwide : 衰老与衰老相关的疾病有哪些: Neuron degeneration老年性痴呆,帕金森氏病Mental health conditions Diabetes糖尿病Cardiovascular diseases 心血管疾病 (如高血压,心肌梗塞)Musculoskeletal conditions (such as arthritis and osteoporosis) 骨关节疾病Cancer 肿瘤

  15. WHAT IS ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE? Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative disease of the brain. The disease slowly attacks nerve cells in all parts of the brain, thereby impairing a person's abilities to govern emotions, recognize errors and patterns, coordinate movement, and remember. At the last, loses all memory and mental functioning. The early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease may be overlooked because they resemble signs of natural aging. These symptoms include forgetfulness, loss of concentration, unexplained weight loss, and motor problems, including mild difficulties in walking. In healthy individuals, similar symptoms can result from fatigue, grief or depression, illness, vision or hearing loss, the use of alcohol or certain medications, or simply the burden of too many details to remember at once. But when memory loss worsens, family and friends perceive that more serious problems exist.

  16. Alzheimer’s Association Gala unites nation’s first ladies, raises more than $1 million “America’s Great Generations Gala” at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C., March 24.

  17. April 2, 2004Researchers uncover racial, ethnic variations in Alzheimer's studies*Japanese who live in Hawaii are at greater risk of getting Alzheimer's disease than Japanese living in Japan or in mainland United States. *Elderly Chinese may be more difficult to diagnose with dementia because of cultural practices and stigma attached to mental illness.Source: The Hartford Courant

  18. What is Parkinson's disease?Parkinson's disease (PD) is a slowly progressive disorder that affects movement, muscle control, and balance. Although it is clear that dopamine deficiency is the primary defect in Parkinson's disease, it is not clear what causes dopamine loss. Resent research shows Mitochondria complex I dysfunction is one of the reasons.

  19. What is Mitochondria?

  20. Caloric restriction make life 30-40% longer!

  21. Caloric restriction can also reduce body weight ----Keep you slim!

  22. Search for Caloric Restriction Mimetics: That means you can still enjoy your food but also live longer.

100 ** Change in  (% Change Relative to Young) 50 Old Treated Old Young 0

  24. Tips for how to live longer and healthier:Healthy Life Span can be extended by many ways, including to:1. Have a balanced diet, 2. Eat less, 3. Do more exercise, 4. Relax from stress, 5. And so onHowever, if you can not do so but you still want to live healthy to 120 years, you still can! Because…

  25. Mark Twain’s Quotation马克.吐温语录“The main distinguishing characteristic between man and the lower animals is the desire to take pills”

  26. Conclusion: Your life is on your hands!

  27. 1. 56% of middle-aged and elderly people are taking one or more dietary supplements.2. With the coming era of baby-boomers entering old age, there will be a greater need.3. Thousand and thousand of products now, you should know what you need. Our products are more scientific and focus on brain. We are in the frontier of nutritional science.
