  2. What Is Propaganda? • Media used to influence opinion, in order to get a population ready for war • What type of writing could we compare to propaganda?

  3. Different Types of Media • Visual • posters, postcards • Audio • radio commercials, music • Audiovisual • movies, cartoons

  4. Propaganda in WWII • When World War II started, some nations were ready for war and some were not. All nations had to use propaganda in order to get their citizens ready for war.

  5. Responding to WW II Propaganda • Each piece of media is an example of propaganda from WWII. • As you view and listen, answer these questions: • What country is it from? • How do you know? Explain your thinking. • What was the creator trying to say (theme)? • Who is it meant for (audience)?

  19. Your Task • Your group will be analyzing propaganda posters from three of the main participants in World War II: Germany, Japan, and the United States. While analyzing you will be searching for different themes in each of these posters. • Your group will be creating your own World War II propaganda poster from one of the three nations. When creating your poster, be sure to use the themes from the country you have selected.
