  2. Logging onto eGrants

  3. Please click here to log on to your eGrants account. Logging onto eGrants

  4. Turn off the web browser “Pop-up Blocker. Log into eGrants system by entering your user name and password. If you disable the pictures, it will speed up screen refreshes. Logging onto eGrants

  5. Creating a Competitive Application – Selecting Application Type Click on “new” link, if you are creating a 1st year application of a three-year funding cycle.

  6. Creating a Competitive Application – Selecting Program Type Select “AmeriCorps” from the dropdown menu and clock “GO.”

  7. Creating a Competitive Application – Selecting a NOFA All the NOFAs currently listed for AmeriCorps program will be listed here.

  8. Creating a Competitive Application – Selecting a NOFA Please choose the appropriate NOFA (Notice of Funds Availability) and click “Next.”

  9. Creating a Competitive Application – Reviewing NOFA Info Review the NOFA information to check whether you have chosen the correct NOFA.

  11. Creating a Competitive Application – Selecting Prime Application Select the Prime Application of the state commission you are applying to. Make sure the prime Application ID you choose here matches with the Prime ID number given by your state commission. Once you choose the Prime ID, please click “next.”

Application & Sections • You grant application will contain 9 main sections: • Applicant Info • Application info • Narratives • Documents • Budget Section 1 • Budget Section 2 • Budget Section 3 • Review • Authorize and Submit When you create your application, please write down the ID number, in case if you need it in the future. Click here to enter program information

  14. Applicant Info Section When you enter program info and save, other program related links will appear to enter data.

  19. Entering/Editing Project Director Info You can choose a program director from the drop down list. The dropdown list will show the names of individuals who are already in the system. If the program director’s name is not there, you could enter program director information using the “enter new” link.

  20. Application Info Section Whenever you enter text into eGrants text fields, we strongly encourage you to create that information on a word document. You can copy the data from your word document and paste it in the eGrants text field by having your cursor in the text field and right clicking your mouse. Don’t forget: eGrants cannot take formatted text. • Three Good Reasons to do your text on a word document: • You will have a back up record. • You can do a character count to find out the size of your text. • You can spell check your work. If your program is eligible to request for a Volunteer Leveraging Waiver, click here to create a Waiver. Please check with your state commission about the eligibility in your state.

Narratives Section For all of these fields (6 fields excluding “Evaluation Summary or Plan”) Total # of Characters for New Applications = 71,000 (including spaces & punctuations) Any single field cannot exceed 32,000 characters Write “N/A” To enter/edit text, please click on “view/edit narratives” link for the relevant narrative item. This will open up a pop-up window to enter data. For additional guidance in completing narratives, please refer to application instructions on pages 7 & 16.   23. Entering/Editing Narratives Whenever you enter text into eGrants text fields, we strongly encourage you to create that information on a word document.   24. Narratives Section Once you enter data into a narrative text field and save, a green check mark will appear next to that narrative item indicating that you have entered data. Data needs to be entered into all the text fields. Otherwise, you will not be able to submit your application. For any narrative item that you are not required to enter data, type “N/A” in the narrative text field.

Performance Measures Section The Corporation does not require state service commission applicants to provide performance measures for State Competitive grants unless and until the Corporation notifies the commission that the applicants have been selected for consideration for a grant. However, your state commission may require you to provide performance measures at the time that you submit your application for its consideration. Follow the instructions provided by your state commissionin this regard. Click here to create a “Service Category.” You need to first create “Service Categories” in order to create “Performance Measures.”

  26. Performance Measures – Selecting an Issue Area Choose an “Issue Area” from the drop down list that relates to the service category you plan to create and click “GO.”

  27. Performance Measures – Selecting a Service Category A list of service categories that relates to the issue area selected will appear. Select a service category that relates to your performance measures.

  28. Performance Measures – Selecting a Service Category Service Category will appear with “Primary” and Secondary” choice fields. If you need to add more service categories, click on “add a service category” and follow the previous steps.

Performance Measures – Selecting a Service Category You can create any number of “Service Categories.” However, you can label only one service category as “Primary” and one as “Secondary.” The “Service Category” you identify as “Primary” should have aligned Performance Measures (One out put, one Intermediate Outcome and one End Outcome).

  32. Performance Measures – Creating a Performance Measure Choose a “Service category” that you want this performance measure to be part of from those service categories you have created. Click on ‘GO.’

  36. Performance Measures – Creating a Performance Measure All the Performance Measures you create will get populated here. You can edit those Performance Measures by clicking on “view/edit” link located next to the particular performance measure title.

  37. Documents Section You cannot choose “Not Sent” for any of the documents listed. If you have “Not Sent” chosen, you will not be able to verify your application.

  38. Budget Section 1 – Program Operating Costs To enter information about matching funds, please click on this link. It will open up a secondary window to input your data. For additional guidance in completing budget, please refer to application instructions on pages 18-28.   40. Budget Section 1 – Program Operating Costs To add a budget item click on this link. It will open up a secondary window worksheet for data input. When you input numbers, please don’t use commas to separate thousands and don’t use decimal points.

  41. Budget Section 1 – Program Operating Costs Data entered into the worksheet will get populated in the budget section. You can edit the data or deleted that budget item by using “edit” or “delete” links listed next to the budget item.

  44. Budget Section III – Administrative/Indirect Costs Click this link to validate your budget.

  45. Budget Validation If there are no errors, you will receive this message. If there are errors, it will list the specific budget errors.

  46. Budget Validation Once you validate your budget, this link will appear in green with a check mark indicating that you have validated your budget. If you happen to change data in your budget, you can use this link again as many times you need to validate your budget prior to submitting your application.

  47. Review Section Review section/screen will show a summary of the data you have entered into all the sections of your application. Whenever you open your application in the eGrants system again, the application will always open up in the “Review” section.

  49. View/Print Application If you click on “view/print report,” it will pull up a PDF document that will have data from your application in relation to the type of report you choose. You can print it for proof reading purposes or save the PDF document for your own use. In order to use this feature, you should have acrobat software installed in your computer.

  50. View/Print Application Here’s a sample PDF document that gets created when you click on “view/print report.” The word “DRAFT” will appear on the top if you open these reports before submission.
