  1. ISM IMAGE – SOMATIC RESPONSE - MEANING

  2. ISM • IMAGE – Shows what is happening • SOMATIC RESPONSE – Shows what is being created in the body • MEANING – Understanding that develops from the body connection

  3. I S M - structure and flow • When consciousness is structured in this order, creative imagination flows • Flow is always in the direction of growth and health • There is a Press for Health, the mind is always trying to be healthy , to repair the body, heal wounds, and continue to grow

  4. A Seed that Grows • A seed holds all the potentials of growth. When conditions are right, when the sun warms the earth, enough rain falls, and the soil is loose enough to bring air, life will press forth from the seed. It grows according to its plan and will become what it was programmed to be. • As it sprouts, roots grow downward, stems and leaves go up. • If the seed is under a pebble or log, it moves in a different direction • Until it finds the light.

  5. Running Stream Image:Nature in the Running Stream • See yourself as the running stream • See the running stream that you are • See an obstacle in the running stream • See how you flow through the obstacle, and any difficulty it offers. • See yourself downstream • The Running Stream Image was created by Akhter Ahsen, PhD. and is used with his permission

  6. Nature in the Running Stream • Water always runs downhill, that is it’s nature, its physics. • From the highest mountain tops, glacial ice melts, forms trickles and rivers, eventually reaching the ocean, • changing form from ice, to water, and eventually to mist as it is evaporates from the ocean, back into air where it is carried and condensed into rain or snow and falls again on the mountain top. • the cycle never stops, water runs downhill and returns from the sea to the eternal ice of the mountain.

  7. The Running Stream of Consciousness • William James wrote about the “Stream of Consciousness”. • Akhter Ahsen adds the action of “Running” to the notion of consciousness as a stream. • The stream constantly adapts to its environment, going around or over, sometimes under any obstacle, it is changed by its environment. • But it also changes its environment as it runs. A pebble is carried downstream, a river changes course or carves the Grand Canyon. You can’t stop the mountain stream And, if you try It cuts through the rock and opens the heart of the mountain Akhter Ahsen rom a poem by an Indian poet • Your consciousness is an Act of Nature.
